Acne (Yauvan Pidika / Mukhadushika)

In Ayurveda, acne is known as Yauvan Pidika or Mukhadushika, commonly seen during adolescence. It is mainly caused by aggravation of Pitta and Kapha doshas, along with impurity of blood (Rakta dushti). Weak digestive fire (Agni dushti) leads to formation of toxins (Ama), which accumulate in the skin and block the channels, resulting in eruptions on the face.

Main Causes:

  • Imbalance of Pitta and Kapha doshas
  • Impure blood (Rakta dushti)
  • Excess intake of oily, spicy, fried, and junk foods
  • Hormonal changes during adolescence
  • Stress and irregular lifestyle
  • Poor skin hygiene and clogged pores

Common Symptoms:

  • Pimples or eruptions on face, chest, or back
  • Redness and inflammation
  • Painful or pus-filled lesions
  • Oily skin
  • Blackheads and whiteheads
  • Marks or scars after healing

Ayurveda focuses on balancing Pitta and Kapha, purifying the blood, improving digestion, and removing Ama through proper diet, lifestyle changes, and herbal therapies to promote clear and healthy skin.
