Dyslipidemia (Medoroga)
In Ayurveda, dyslipidemia is understood as Medoroga, a condition involving imbalance of fat metabolism (Meda dhatu). It is mainly caused by aggravation of Kapha dosha and impaired digestive fire (Agni dushti), leading to improper digestion and accumulation of unhealthy fats in the body. This results in blockage of body channels (Srotorodha), affecting circulation and overall health.
Main Causes:
- Imbalance of Kapha dosha
- Weak digestion and metabolism (Agni dushti)
- Excess intake of fatty, oily, sweet, and processed foods
- Sedentary lifestyle and lack of exercise
- Obesity and overweight
- Stress and unhealthy daily routine
Common Symptoms:
- Often no noticeable symptoms (silent condition)
- Heaviness in the body
- Lethargy and fatigue
- Weight gain
- Shortness of breath on exertion
- Increased risk of heart-related issues
Ayurveda focuses on balancing Kapha, improving Agni, reducing excess fat (Meda), and clearing body channels through proper diet, exercise, lifestyle changes, and herbal therapies to maintain healthy lipid levels and overall well-being.
